Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for Ash Wednesday, 02/22/2023, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection, sacrifice, and of drawing closer to God. We can use this time to focus more on what we do and what we can give up for 40 days to focus more closely on prayer, reading the Gospel, fasting (disciplined eating), and putting Christ’s teaching in our daily life.
(Readings: Joel 2:1-2, 12-17; Psalm -103:8-13; 2 Corinthians 5=20b-6:10; Matthew 8:1-8, 18-21)
