Jesus Shares His Faith Journey
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 1st Sunday of Lent, 02/18/2024.
In today’s Gospel, Mark 1: 9-15, Mark shares three events in Jesus Christ’s faith journey. First, after His baptism, the Holy Spirit comes down from heaven in the form of a dove and God’s voice shares that “this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.” Second, Jesus is thrust into the wilderness for 40 days to be tempted by the Devil. Third, after John the Baptist’s arrest, Jesus comes to Galilee to tell people that “The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and Believe the Good News.”
Each of us is on his/her own faith journey in this lifetime. By virtue of our Baptism, Jesus Christ is with us and we are part of the body of Christ. Lent is a time to reflect on our faith journey and to find ways to repent and come closer to God, to share in the spreading of “The Good News.”
