Building Trust--A Solid Foundation--Homily--4th Sunday of Lent

Before a bird will sit on a person's finger, he will peck at the finger to see if it is solid enough to hold him. Nicodemus tested Jesus and Jesus shared some of His wisdom with Nicodemus. We, too, sometimes test Jesus to see if we can trust Him. While His words are sometimes confusing, his Disciples came to trust him--with everything. We, too, need to put our trust and faith in Jesus and to act accordingly....

Jesus Shares His Faith Journey

Each of us is on his/her own faith journey in this lifetime. By virtue of our Baptism, Jesus Christ is with us and we are part of the body of Christ. Lent is a time to reflect on our faith journey and to find ways to repent and come closer to God, to share in the spreading of "The Good News." ...

Jesus Demonstrates His Authority

n today's Gospel (Mark 1: 21-28), Jesus displays His authority by removing an unclean spirit from a man. This was a start to the expansion of Jesus's ministry. Jesus calls to us to expand our ministry--we need to listen....

Sheep without a Shepherd

Jesus sends His disciples out to the Jewish population, asking them to spread the Good Word, to heal the sick, raise the dead, and to bring the Good News to the lost people of Israel. At our baptism, Jesus came to us and asks us to do the same in ways that work for us. We are all sheep without a shepherd and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, with us since our baptism, show us how to treat others. All of us are children of God....

What Jesus's Ascension Means For Us

By ascending to Heaven in human form, Jesus Christ nurtures us and represents us to the Father. By virtue of our baptism, we are one with Christ and Christ is one with us. The Holy Spirit, the comforter, is with us in times of joy and in times of trouble. We are called to continue the mission Jesus gave to His disciples and we need to have our thoughts, words, and actions reflect the love Christ shares with us in every moment....

Jesus Walks With Us

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 3rd Sunday of Easter, 04/23/2023. Today’s Gospel reading (Luke 24: 13-35) takes place on the road to Emmaus three days after Jesus’s crucifixion. Two disciples are walking toward Emmaus and a third person joins them. The disciples do not recognize Jesus and, along the road, he tells them the scripture background for all that had to happen to Jesus. They extend hospitality to the stranger, inviting him to stay with them overnight. At dinner, Jesus reveals Himself to them in the breaking of the bread, then......

Jesus--I Must Stay at Your House Today

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells Zacchaeus, a Jewish tax collector, that “I must stay at your house today.” Jesus’s presence in the tax collector’s home totally reforms the tax collector. We need to invite Jesus into our homes. Imagine Jesus saying to us, “I must stay at your house today.” (Readings: Habakkuk 1: 1-4, 2: 1-4; Psalm 119: 137-144; 2 Thessalonians 1: 1-4, 11-12; Luke 19: 1-10) YouTube Link: Holistic Eucharist, 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022  Link: Tithe.ly–Our Online Giving Resource ......
