142 Years of Worship Community Service and Joy after Consecration of Calvary Church
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 5th Sunday after Pentecost, 07/02/2023, the 142nd Anniversary of Consecration of Calvary Episcopal Church in Batavia, IL.
Episcopal congregations have met in Batavia, IL, since the 1840’s.
Calvary Episcopal Church was given to the Episcopal Diocese by its builder, John VanNortwick, 142 years ago. Consecration dedicates the building to worship, community, service, and joy–following Christ’s teaching and example.
The members of our parish have done this for more than 142 years–through wars, depressions, a pandemic, and more.
Christ calls us to come together to worship and serve in our Community of Faith.
(Readings: Genesis 22:1 14; Psalm 13; Romans 6:12-23; Matthew 10:40-42) Y
