Today You Will Be With Me in Paradise
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 24th (Last) Sunday after Pentecost, 11/20/2022 (Christ the King Sunday)–Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, is crucified between two thieves. One of the thieves believes in Jesus Christ and asks him to remember him when he gets to Paradise. Jesus tells him, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Through our baptism, we, too, join Jesus in Paradise. We need to remember that we follow him and not to “crown ourselves”–being too much aware of our own wants and needs instead of supporting God.
(Readings: Jeremiah 23:1-6; Canticle 16 (Luke 1: 68-79); Colossians 1: 11-20; Luke 23: 33-43)
