The Last Shall Be First and the First Shall Be Last
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost, 09/24/2023.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells of a wealthy owner of a vineyard who goes to the village several times in one day, looking for workers in his field. The last ones he hired received the same pay as those who came early in the day. “The last shall be first and the first shall be last.”
(Readings: Exodus 16:2-15; Psalm 105:1-6, 37-45; Philippians 1:21-30; Matthew 20:1-16)
