What Are We Holding On To
“What are we holding on to that keeps us from experiencing God’s Love?”
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/13/2024, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL.
In today’s Gospel (Mark 10), Jesus speaks to a young man who seeks to follow Him. Jesus describes the 10 Commandments to the young man who says he has followed those commandments all his life. Jesus looked at the young man with love and said that only one thing holds him back. He must sell all he possesses and give the money to the poor, then come and follow Jesus. Concerns of this world–money and other things–are the things we hold tightly to and may be keeping us from experiencing more of God’s love.
