The Son of Man Came to Serve
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, 10/20/2024, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Jesus tells his apostles that He came to serve, not to be served, and that His life would be a ransom for many. James and John had wanted to be seated next to Him in Glory and Jesus replied that it was not for him to decide.
As God called Jesus to serve and to sacrifice, we, too, as members of Christ’s body by way of our baptism, need to serve to be closer to Christ now and for the future.
