Christ–The Bread of Life
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, 08/04/2024, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
In the first reading today, the prophet Nathan tells King David a story that allows David to realize that he has angered God by his choices and actions. In the second reading, Paul tells the Ephesians that they need to continue to work toward eternal life and not let the sufferings of this life distract them. In the Gospel, John tells of Jesus speaking with the 5,000 people who had received bread and fish from Jesus and His disciples. He reminds them that He is the Bread of Life–eternal life.
All of us need to choose to be with Christ.
(Readings: 2 Samuel 11:26-12:13a; Psalm 51:1-13; Ephesians 4:1-16; John 6:24-35)
