Show Mercy and Compassion–Homily–16th Sunday after Pentecost
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, 09/25/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Today’s Gospel tells of a rich man who had no mercy or compassion for a poor man outside his gate. Both died and the rich man went to a place of torment while the poor man was cared for by Abraham. The rich man, even after death, does not learn what Paul teaches Timothy in the second lesson today, God gives all abundance, show mercy and compassion to those around us.
(Readings: Jeremiah 32: 1-3a, 6-15; Psalms 91: 1-6, 14-16; 1 Timothy 6: 6-19; Luke 16: 19-31)
