Pentecost–Invoking the Holy Spirit in Our Lives
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for Pentecost Sunday, 05/28/2023, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL.
On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit entered into the disciples and apostles with great power. Each was given Spiritual Gifts, according to the plan God had for each one. We receive the Holy Spirit at Baptism and the Holy Spirit is with us throughout our lives. When we invoke the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can become immersed in Christ’s love and mercy and find ourselves extending this same love and mercy out into the world. Rather than being shy, we need to embrace the Holy Spirit inside of us.
(Readings: Acts 2:1 21; Psalm 10 4 :25 35, 37; 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13; John 20:19-23)
