Jesus Drives Out Evil Spirits
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost, 06/19/2022–Father’s Day
In the time of Jesus, He frequently cast out or drove out demons possessing adults or children.
Three factors seemed to be in common with these possessions–1) victims were driven to self-destruction; 2) victims felt trapped; 3) victims were separated from living in the normal family circle.
In contemporary visual programming, evil is frequently seen as striving against good. The directors normally fail to remember that God has the ultimate upper hand. The Devil and his minions are all fallen angels.
In our lives we may find many things that distract us. It is important to remain aware of what we are doing and ask for Christ’s help to live the best lives we can.
(Readings: 1 Kings 19: 1-4, 8-15a; Psalms 42 & 43; Galatians 3:23-29; Luke 8: 26-39)
Zoom Note: We experienced Internet connection challenges with our computers today and were not able to maintain a good connection for our regular Zoom meeting. Hopefully we’ll be beyond challenge next week.
