How Do We Render to God the Things That Are Gods
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/22/2023
In today’s Gospel, when asked about paying taxes to the Roman Empire, Jesus–using a Roman coin of the time–clearly defines what is Caesar’s, telling his listeners to “Render to Caesar things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22: 15-22).
In today’s troubling times, it may be difficult at times and we need to remember to “Render to God the things that are God’s.”
(Readings: Exodus 33:12-23; Psalm 99; 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10; Matthew 22:15-22)
