God Writes His Laws in Our Hearts and Minds
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 5th Sunday of Lent, 03/17/2024. Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL.
In the first lesson today, Jeremiah (31: 31-34) passes God’s message to the Israelites–“I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” In John, Jesus speaks to that, saying that when He returns to God, He will send the Holy Spirit to be with his people. By being lifted up, he will draw people to him for eternal life. We need to remember to listen to and for God from within. When we are baptized, that connection is established. We just need to remember to listen and to keep choosing back to God.
(Readings: Jeremiah 31:31-34; Psalm 51:1-13; Hebrews 5:5-10; John 12:20-33)
