Becoming One with the Holiness of God
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for Thanksgiving Day, 11/28/2024, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Thanksgiving in the USA comes from our early beginnings here. We give thanks for the bounty God provides us and for family, friends, and more. Around us, people are hurting–hungry, homeless, not cared for, ill. This can be near us or away from us in other parts of the world. We need to remember Christ’s call to us to be loving members of the Body of Christ and to reach out to those in need. Christ continues to reach out to us, not because we deserve it, but because that is what He promised us. God created all things–including us, his children.
As Christ continues to reach out to us, He is inviting us to become one with the holiness of God.
(Readings: Joel 2:21-27; Psalm 126; 1 Timothy 1; Matthew 6:25-33)
