Thomas: “My Lord and My God”

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the Second Sunday of Easter, 04/24/2022.

In today’s Gospel (John 20), one of the apostles, Thomas, who was not present the first time Jesus showed himself after He had risen, said he would not believe that Jesus had risen until he had put his hands on the holes in Jesus’s hands and his hand into the hole in Jesus’s side. When Jesus did appear before Thomas, Thomas was the first to say “My Lord and My God.” Jesus said to Thomas how much greater it is to believe without seeing.

Christ is alive in each of us today. We need to remember to say “My Lord and My God” ourselves and to act accordingly.
