Jesus--I Must Stay at Your House Today

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells Zacchaeus, a Jewish tax collector, that “I must stay at your house today.” Jesus’s presence in the tax collector’s home totally reforms the tax collector. We need to invite Jesus into our homes. Imagine Jesus saying to us, “I must stay at your house today.” (Readings: Habakkuk 1: 1-4, 2: 1-4; Psalm 119: 137-144; 2 Thessalonians 1: 1-4, 11-12; Luke 19: 1-10) YouTube Link: Holistic Eucharist, 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022  Link: Tithe.ly–Our Online Giving Resource ......

Jesus tells the parable about a Pharisee and a tax collector, The Pharisee was praising himself and the tax collector was asking God for forgiveness. Christ Calls Us to Be Open to His Love, Mercy, Compassion, and Forgiveness and to Share That With Others

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, 10/09/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL. In today’s Gospel (Luke 17), Christ heals a Samaritan leper. The Samaritan returns to Jesus to thank Him and to praise Him. Jesus tells him that his faith has made him well. This Samaritan leper was open to Jesus’s love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and grace. As baptized Christians, we, too, are called to be open to Christ’s love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and grace and to share it with those around us. (Readings: Jeremiah 29: 1, 4-7;......

We Are Called to Serve Christ

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost, 10/02/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL, Jesus’s Disciples wanted to learn how to deepen their faith. Jesus told them that they had faith enough to do the work He had called them to do. We, too, as baptized Christians, have enough faith to do the work Christ has called us to do. We need to do the work and Christ and the Holy Spirit and Faith will sustain us in doing that work. (Readings: Lamentations 1: 1-6; Psalms 137; 2 Timothy 1:......

Jesus's Call to Us and to First Responders

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, 9/11/2022–Patriot’s Day–21st Anniversary after the Attack on America. September 11, 2001, is a day the United States will never forget. Remembering this day of suffering and anguish also brings to mind stories of profound courage and compassion. Luke’s parables show two people who search diligently for something they have lost. Today is a time to remember not only what has been lost, but also what has been found, recovered, and celebrated as people all around us continue to work together to heal......
