Christmas: Christ is born anew in our hearts
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 2nd Sunday in Advent, 12/04/2022. Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL.
The first Sunday in Advent focuses on the 2nd Coming of Christ, the remaining three Sundays focus on welcoming Christ’s first coming–His birth. Today’s Gospel focuses on John, the Baptist, addressing the Pharisees and Sadducees who were coming to John to be baptized. John tells them they have to have true repentance in their hearts. These weeks of Advent, we need to prepare to welcome Christ in our lives. On Christmas, Christ is born anew in our hearts.
(Readings: Isaiah 11: 1-10; Psalm 72: 1-7, 18-19; Romans 15: 4-13; Matthew 3: 1-12)
