Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.

Saint Teresa of Ávila

Why We Give?

When we gather on Sunday mornings here at Calvary, we share a meal. This meal is not just any meal but the Holy Eucharist, which for us Episcopalians is a sacrament—a way in which we receive God’s grace. The Book of Common Prayer describes grace as an unearned, undeserved way in which God forgives our sins, enlightens our minds, stirs our hearts, and strengthens our will. The word Eucharist has its roots in the Greek word Χαρις (Charis) which when translated means grace. But the meaning runs deeper than that; Χαρις is a practical action of goodwill, an exceptional effect produced by generosity. Χαρις is the grace given and the effect produced by it. Each time you partake in Holy Eucharist you are asked to be an instrument of this grace, to serve God with strength and courage. Next time you sit during the Eucharist in the presence of God and your neighbors, be influenced by the Χαρις to do good work in the world. Please consider prayerfully the grace God has given you, and give generously of your time, talent and treasure here at Calvary.

2017 Stewardship Campaign

When you make a tax-deductible gift to Calvary, you will join us in our mission to manifest the life-changing power of Christ into practical work that impacts our neighbors, our communities and the world. Our congregation has experienced a renewed sense of mission to respond to God’s call to care for one another and serve those in need of food, clothing, shelter, comfort or, very simply, love. Christ has no hands but our hands to do His work today, so let us work and worship together, and with God’s help we will have the power to transform the world.

The goal of our Stewardship Campaign is to raise $250,000 to support our ongoing work and mission.  I hope we can depend on your support for Calvary Episcopal Church in 2017 with as generous a contribution as you are able. For more information please listen to our Calvary Stewardship Presentation 2017.

Giving Your Time

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” - Mother Teresa

Volunteers play a vital role in fulfilling the vision God has for Calvary Episcopal Church. Every person has a contribution to make. As followers of Christ, we want to use the time that God has given us to make a difference in someone’s life. Together, we will improve the lives of the people within our parish, our community, and the world. Seek to serve Christ by volunteering your time.

Serving with Your Talents

God has given each of us a special combination of abilities, passions, spiritual gifts, and experiences that make us who we are. Whether you are a good listener, a financial wizard, a musician, a good cook, or a friendly face – God has given you a valuable gift to be nurtured and shared. Tell us about your talents and we will help you steward those gifts to help others within our ministry or the surrounding community.
