In addition to being the Companion Diocese Sunday, this week also falls into the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The theme (challenge) for this year is "Do You Believe This?" (Jesus Christ's question to Martha when he went to see her after Lazarus had died.- This was Martha's response to Jesus's question:

In today's Gospel (Mark 12: 38-44), Jesus tells His disciples about the donation a widow made of two copper coins (each worth about 1/8th of a penny--all she had). She was giving her heart to God. We need to learn to do the same....

In today's Gospel, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. All Saints Sunday is a day remember those who have passed into Spirit before us. Jesus has promised us, confirmed in our baptism, that those who believe in Jesus will have everlasting life.
While remembering those who have gone into Spirit before us, we also need to live our lives following the teachings of Christ--especially in loving and service....
