Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for All Saints Sunday–the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, 11/06/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL Ambrose Pierce, famous humorist, wrote a comic dictionary in which he defined “Saint” as “a dead sinner revised and edited.” Fr Mike reminds us that we are to reflect the image of Christ and to allow Jesus to do the revising and editing so that we, too, can become saints. Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells Zacchaeus, a Jewish tax collector, that “I must stay at your house today.” Jesus’s presence in the tax collector’s home totally reforms the tax collector. We need to invite Jesus into our homes. Imagine Jesus saying to us, “I must stay at your house today.” (Readings: Habakkuk 1: 1-4, 2: 1-4; Psalm 119: 137-144; 2 Thessalonians 1: 1-4, 11-12; Luke 19: 1-10) YouTube Link: Holistic Eucharist, 21st Sunday after Pentecost, 10/30/2022 Link: Tithe.ly–Our Online Giving Resource ......

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, 10/09/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL. In today’s Gospel (Luke 17), Christ heals a Samaritan leper. The Samaritan returns to Jesus to thank Him and to praise Him. Jesus tells him that his faith has made him well. This Samaritan leper was open to Jesus’s love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and grace. As baptized Christians, we, too, are called to be open to Christ’s love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and grace and to share it with those around us. (Readings: Jeremiah 29: 1, 4-7;......

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for Pentecost Sunday, 06/05/2022. Jesus shared the Holy Spirit with his apostles through His breath. After His crucifixion and resurrection, the Holy Spirit came to the Early Christians in Jerusalem gathered for a harvest festival called the Pentecost. The Holy Spirit has come to each of us at our baptism. The Holy Spirit is our direct connection to God. We can invite the Holy Spirit to help us to become the best Christians we can be. (Readings: Acts 2:1-21; Psalm 104: 25-35, 37; Romans 8:22-27; John 14 8......

Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 6th Sunday of Easter, 05/22/2022. Jesus, when giving Peace to the disciples, used the word “Shalom”–God’s Peace—not peace as the world understands, Peace with the fullness of God’s blessings. Through our baptism, we, too, are inheritors of Shalom, God’s Peace. Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 5th Sunday of Easter, 05/15/2022, “Love Like Jesus” At our baptism, the Holy Spirit entered us and we are part of the “Body of Christ”–as we continue to grow and to allow Jesus and the Holy Spirit to work with us, our good deeds should come from the heart as a natural part of who we are–as Jesus’s acts were a natural part of who He was (when they were reported). As we can, more and more, “Love Like Jesus” our living will manifest itself in......
