Let Our Lives be a Reflection of Christ’s Love and Mercy
Fr Michael Rasicci’s homily for the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, 08/21/2022, Calvary Episcopal Church, Batavia, IL
Jesus “broke the rules” laid down by Moses when he healed a severely handicapped woman in the Synagogue on the Sabbath Day. He admonished the people speaking against Him, saying that they took their animals for water on the Sabbath. Why shouldn’t Jesus heal a woman who had been afflicted for more than 18 years?
We are called to be like Jesus. The world needs Christ’s love and mercy today. We are blessed through baptism to be with Christ and He is with us always. Our lives need to be a reflection to everyone who sees us of Christ’s Love and Mercy.
(Readings: Jeremiah 1: 4-10; Psalm 71: 1-6; Hebrews 12: 18-29; Luke 13: 10-17)
