We are delighted to welcome the Women of Calvary to participate in a new association, the Elizabeth’s Hearth Group. The idea is based on the story of Mary. When Mary accepted her mission of becoming the Mother of Jesus, she found herself pregnant and unmarried. Mary went to visit her cousin, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, also pregnant, welcomed Mary with the love of the Holy Spirit, and took care of her for three months. Elizabeth represents the person in the world who acts as we should hope to: caring for those in need, helping those who may be having a hard time, or just enjoying the blessings of friendship. The new group at Calvary is for all the women in the parish, including women who are single, married, divorced, separated, or not interested in getting married at all. We welcome old and young women, with children and without children. We welcome women who may be considering the question of their sexuality.
Activities of Elizabeth’s Hearth may include; movie nights, bible study, book club, the prayer shawl, and birthday brigade. We hope Elizabeth’s Hearth members will also help with fundraiser activities such as the chili cookoff, annual barbeque, plant sale, cookie sale, and 50-50 raffle. All members of the community are welcome! Join us in our mission of growing faith with growing friendships.
